Let's go on this journey together
Sweetgrass Commons is an indigenous, woman, veteran-owned business. The Commons is a shared space for counselors who each run their own private practice.
Why Sweetgrass? Braiding sweetgrass is a Native tradition. It’s a practice that brings community together and connects each to the other. There are three cords in the braid which symbolize the mind, body, and spirit. Traditionally, there are seven strands per cord. The first seven help us remember the seven generations before us. The second seven represent the cultural values of love, humility, truth, respect, honesty, courage, and wisdom. And the last seven remind us of the generations to come after us. Sweetgrass is a sweet-smelling plant that’s used in ceremony, healing or talking circles to promote happiness, open heartedness, and harmony. It’s believed to purify thoughts and the environment, as well as remove negativity.
And what about Commons? There’s significance to this word, which indicates resources belonging to everyone in the community.
Sweetgrass Commons was founded upon the concept of healing-centered engagement. We believe healing is a collective experience that occurs within relationship. We strive to create connectedness and community as an antidote to the isolation and challenges that we are facing today. We are all journeying together for growth. We have a variety of team members with diverse experience and specialization including counselors, medication management, massage therapy, and a naturopathic physician. We hope that you'll find the right fit while checking out our "Providers" page.
Our goal is to provide support to individuals, couples and families that facilitate resilience, healing, growth, and wellness.
